Kazuki Tokaji’s Cinematic New Inertia

  • by
Kazuki Tokaji

At just 26 years-old, Kazuki Tokaji has already had a storied career. Best known as the guitarist for popular Alternative band Circle The Earth and Post-Metal Hardcore band DYLAN’N’ALICE, the talented guitarist has even shared the stage with superstar guitar virtuoso Steve Vai

Based in LA and born in Japan, Kazuki Tokaji moved to the United States as an adolescent. That mix of Eastern and Western influences provides his sound a unique perspective. Since his solo professional recording debut in 2018, the guitarist has released a steady string of popular experimental Progressive Rock instrumentals.

“Interia” is the latest single from Kazuki Tokaji, released worldwide to all major streaming services on November 23, 2021. The track opens on an Industrial Bass playing a hard Metal groove. Soon the drums and guitar join in with an air-tight syncopated double-kick and power chord funk.

As the rhythm section heats things up, Kazuki Tokaji’s guitar takes center stage. Slow melodic leads gradually build to rhythmic riffing and then some insanely fast shredding. Stylistically the song features elements of Progressive, Melodic and Groove Metal. The track even takes a brief Vaporwave interlude in the bridge before getting back to the Rock. It’s a fun listen.
