Shane Davis Group Go Underground

We first heard from Shane Davis last year upon the release of his eponymous solo debut album. He is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Alabama who made a name for himself in the band Black Market Salesmen and in collaborations with fellow Huntsville musician, Izzy Miller.

In just over a year since the release of his debut, the singer/songwriter’s band Shane Davis Group has dropped a string of successful singles. From loose rockers like “Back Burner” to the quiet melancholy soul of “Ocean Song,” their sound lives in that timeless space somewhere between Country, Folk and Psychedelic Rock. It is a place first created and occupied by legends like Grateful Dead and The Band.

“Going Underground” is the latest single from Shane Davis Group, released worldwide to all major streaming services on December 9, 2021. The song tells the first person narrative of a man who realizes his relationship has come to an end. With a touch of Dylan-style Country/Folk heartbreak poetry Shane sings, “”I got more in common with the shadows on the wall.”

Ultimately the protagonist steals out in the night without a sound, and goes underground. As Shane and his guitar deliver his soliloquy, the band plays a slow and soulful Country/Blues waltz. Organ chords float on the edges of the mix as finger-picked guitars create a cool organic Americana vibe.
