bronzegates are a new Progressive Rock band making their debut this month with a pair of of epic Modern Rock singles. Four piece UK group was formed when Ruben Figueiredo (guitar), Marcos Figueiredo (bass), Mike Bassington (vocals) and Oscar Brash (drums) came together through a shared appreciation of a broad spectrum of musical styles, from Classical to Folk and Heavy Metal.
On December 10, 2021 the band made its debut with two singles released worldwide to all major streaming services. The first is “Hanging Gardens,” a mournful Rock ballad which opens on a somber acoustic guitar and violin intro. From there the song grows to a cinematic Rock adventure.
The two acoustic instruments remain at the heart of the mix throughout the song as the singer tells esoteric tales of bravery. The ensemble grows to include bass, drums and electric guitars. The band takes the song on some cool Art-Rock sideroads as it riffs on the main melodic theme. There is also a particularly jazzy breakdown in the bridge which is a nice touch.
“Green Carriage” takes its cue from the dramatic vibes of “Hanging Gardens” but raises the stakes with a hard and heavy Progressive Rocker. Crunching power chords, big riffs and a driving Metal groove provide the soundtrack for more tales of mythical glory. It is a great sound that lands stylistically somewhere between Black Sabbath and Muse. bronzegates heartily embrace the theater and drama of both bands as well.
