The Fraser River forms a massive river system in Vancouver, the city I have lived in for many decades. The sturgeon have plied the murky waters of this river for millennia.

Musically, the track pairs its folky sensibility with a cool organic Funk. Drummer Tony Lee lays down a shuffling groove that bassist/guitarist Aaron Trory rides with a rolling bassline and some Bowie-esque, ethereal psychedelic guitars. The song has a real 90s Alternative feel, highlighted by Kele Fleming’s smooth soprano which lands somewhere between Natalie Merchant (10,000 Maniacs) and Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries). It’s a great sound with a loose, jammy vibe. Ron Yamauchi delivers some particularly nice leads with a jazzy chordal piano solo in the bridge and some nice analog synths on the outro.
