DustBusterr is the professional name of rapper, singer and songwriter Dustin Cook. The Utah native began making music about six years ago as a hobby. To date his musical projects have consisted of vocal cover music videos. Most of his creative energy is directed toward his work as a voice actor. However, the aspiring musician has just released his debut original single.
DustBusterr’s musical roots lie in Heavy Metal, with influences ranging from Disturbed to deathcore rockers Rings of Saturn. However, the singer also cites Pop vocalists like Jeremy Zucker and Ben Platt as influences. For his debut single, Dustin went in an entirely different route with a bit of comedy Hip-hop.
“Hybrid” is the brand new single from DustBusterr, released worldwide to all major streaming services on December 12, 2021. The track rides on a low and slow Trap beat. Ambient synth arpeggios set an ominous mood over a chill 808 groove.
Lyrically, “Hybrid” is an ode to the rapper’s hybrid car and his many other environmentally conscious daily routines. On the track he hilariously points out the many ways in which he is helping the environment while highlighting the damage that other ‘cool’ cars are causing the world. In the process, his tongue-in-cheek testimony does a great job of roasting all of the above. Although the song is all in fun, it should be noted that Dustin shows off some mad skills on the track. For instance, there is some particularly impressive chopping in the first verse.
