Alive Like A Suicide
“Skeleton Bedsheets” is the debut single from Alive Like A Suicide, released worldwide to all major streaming services on October 16, 2021. On the inaugural track the band introduces their signature genre gumbo with a Pop/Rap, Emo/Metal post-breakup song. The song rolls on a groove that shifts between Hip-hop funk to Art Rock drama and back again. Zammit and Harris skillfully riff their way through the changes as Stixx raps and sings an emotional fare-thee-well to his ex. The performances are great throughout. Jake Harris shows off some particularly impressive guitar skills.

8 Questions with Alive Like A Suicide

Where are you from?
We are from a place called Greystanes in Western Sydney Australia. It’s an alright place with not really much to do other than music or work… at least in our case anyways.
How long have you been making music?
A.L.A.S has been a band now for around a Year and a Half now. Vocalist Mikki Stixx and Guitarist Jake Harris have been working on music together for around 5 Years now and we still think we suck. (hahaha)
Who are the musicians involved in your project?
Alive Like A Suicide Currently Consists of Mikki Stixx (Vocals Rhythm guitar), Jake Harris (Shredding Lead)
Ben Zammit (Bass)
Who are your biggest musical influences?
For most of us in the band; we like a lot of Pantera, Black Label Society, Static X, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Frenzal Rhomb, INXS, Silverchair, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Alien Weaponry, Sum 41, Anthrax, Slayer, SLIPKNOT. The list could go on and on. Basically anybody that plays fast and does solos. We also enjoy a lot of rap especially from our local Scene 4FB Divine would have to be our personal favourite.
What is your greatest non-musical influence?
That’s a difficult question because a lot of our lives revolve around music and the musicians themselves. The people around us could be a good answer to that. Everyday people you meet on the street seem to move us more than most celebrities. That’s real, that’s what inspires and influences us.
What inspired you to create this project?
Again that is a difficult question. A wonderful human being. Musically though its a response to an Amy Shark Song and the Concept of “loving From A Distance” which is where the strings come from. We had the idea to put 808s on top of the bassline in the song to give it the same low end as a hip hop track. Our kind of stab at writing a Pop sort of track with a Shredding Lead Guitar over the top of it. Everybody loves solos, trust us.
What are your plans for the future (musically)?
We have a second single coming out. A follow up to this song. It’s called “Up On The PunkSide” and it will be available on all streaming platforms 1.1.2022 at midnight. So when that new year rolls in you can rock it out with us if ya feel like. We plan on releasing an album sometime next year. We have over 25 songs we have been working on over lockdown so it’s just a matter of picking the ones we enjoy the most. We are also looking into playing our first live show next year so stay tuned for that.
Is there anything else you would like to say?
We would just like to say thank you to everybody who showed us some love and continue to. None of us really expected a response at all. The song is as much yours as it is ours. You are Alive Like A Suicide. You’re all in the band! Don’t forget to tell no one about your favourite band nobody knows about. Much love. The bois from A.L.A.S.
