Kenny Potter’s Clever New Indie Pop Mea Culpa

Kenny Potter is a 15 year-old singer, songwriter and bedroom producer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He made his debut in 2020 with the single “Outta My Head.” That track introduced a talented artist with a soulful vocal delivery and a knack for Pop hooks that belie his youth. Since dropping that first track Kenny has delivered a total of five singles. Each new release has found an ever expanding audience. His latest is his most successful so far.

“i’m sorry sir” is the brand new single from Kenny Potter, released worldwide to all major streaming services on December 17, 2021. With a classic Pop sound and a clever wit he sings, “I’m sorry sir that you just don’t love me, but at least she loves me back,” in this tongue-in-cheek apology to the overprotective father of his girlfriend. Within that context he also touches on deeper issues of regret, depression and heartache.

Musically, “i’m sorry sir” mixes an 80’s Electro-Pop vibe with a classic 50’s doo-wop chord structure and a cool, modern Indie aesthetic. Retro synths and bubblegum Pop energy meets some groovy psychedelic production. As the chill tune progresses, Kenny Potter delivers his letter to the angry dad with a smooth Pop tenor with just enough of a sarcastic edge.
