With a classic Pop sound and a clever wit he sings, “I’m sorry sir that you just don’t love me, but at least she loves me back,” in this tongue-in-cheek apology to the overprotective father of his girlfriend. Within that context he also touches on deeper issues of regret, depression and heartache.
Musically, “i’m sorry sir” mixes an 80’s Electro-Pop vibe with a classic 50’s doo-wop chord structure and a cool, modern Indie aesthetic. Retro synths and bubblegum Pop energy meets some groovy psychedelic production. As the chill tune progresses, Kenny Potter delivers his letter to the angry dad with a smooth Pop tenor with just enough of a sarcastic edge.
