Penrose are a five piece band from Los Angeles, California. Philadelphia native Forest Traylor first envisioned the project, and brought it to life in 2019 with fellow musicians; Miguel Melecio, Tim Restor, Harlee Doshzinski, and Tyler Cipriani. Their sound is a mix of dark Alternative Rock vibes, combining elements of Shoegaze, Darkwave and Emo.
The band recently made their professional recording debut. Both sonically and conceptually they combine the classic loud and dark Alternative sound of groups like Slowdive and the great Dinosaur Jr with that of modern acolytes like Citizen and Nothing. It is by design a deep, dark and depressing Rock vibe delivered with huge guitars and introspective lyrics.
…a band filled with they/them pronouns and pure unadulterated depression.

“Closed Off” is the debut single from Penrose, released worldwide to all major streaming services on December 17, 2021. The track opens with a quiet intro of Ambient Lo-fi guitar. Soon the rest of the band enters the mix and the track gradually builds into a massive wall of sound. Traylor is awash in a sea of reverb as he sings, “everything I say makes it worse.” Meanwhile the band closes them off from the world, building the ever-increasing wall higher, wider and louder.
