René Michael is the professional name of composer and producer René Michael Olesen. Although not yet thirty years old, the young musician from Denmark has already been making music professionally for ten years. When he signed his first record deal at just 18 years-old, he was in many ways entering the family business. Renés father was a professional DJ throughout the 1980’s and 90’s. He has also been a huge influence on his son’s music.
Performing and recording as both Rene’ Michael and SmK1337, the younger Olesen has produced a string of singles, remixes and videos across multiple platforms. Since his 2012 debut the versatile artist has explored many avenues of EDM. His most recent tracks explore the Sci-Fi side of electronic music with cinematic Trance and Deep House grooves.
On his recent video “Hope” René Michael digs deep into a spacey Psytrance vibe. Ambient synths open the track. The intro slowly builds in emotional intensity before the beat drops. Soon we are riding the psychedelic heartbeat of a chilled out Psytrance groove. The pulsing and hypnotic track slides smoothly between Deep House beats, Synthwave moods and breakbeat rhythms. It is an uplifting and ethereal six and-a-half minute chillout.
