The Domi is the professional name of singer/songwriter Dominique Lemaire. The multi-talented French musician first made a name for himself as a founding member of the popular Alternative group Énée. Over the course of more than a decade, he and bandmates Yann Drezet (guitar, lead) and Sylvain Jouet (bass) have wowed critics and fans alike. During their tenure they have released two EPs, an album and a string of singles. In early 2021 they dropped the 6-song EP “Up There.”
Dominique Lemaire debuted The Domi in October, 2021 with the track “Day by Day.” That song introduced a unique, minimalist throwback vibe that harkens back to the earliest days of bedroom Indie Pop. Citing a range of influences from Radiohead to Pixies and Grandaddy he creates a sound defined by retro drum machine grooves, Indie guitars, analog synths and infectious Pop hooks.
“Together” is the latest single from The Domi,released worldwide to all major streaming services on December 7, 2021. The track combines a classic 80’s Gary Numan-style Electro Pop sound with the quirky vibe of Alternative pioneers like Wall of Voodoo and Devo. Within that framework the singer delivers a touching love song with Beatles-inspired melodies and harmonies.
