Melissa Jones is a fast-emerging singer, songwriter and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born and raised in Oakland, California, the multi-talented artist first made her mark as the lead singer of that city’s genre-bending band ‘No Lovely Thing.’ From 2017 through 2019, the seven piece band released an EP, an LP and a string of singles exploring styles from Blues and Funk to Alternative Rock.
After moving to the East Coast, Melissa Jones launched her professional solo recording career with her debut single “Make it Last” in February 2021. The first of her collaborations with producer/musician Errick Lewis, that track introduced a skilled Neo-Soul artist with Jazz chops and an adventurous creative spirit.
“Mood Booster” is the latest single and video from Melissa Jones, released worldwide to all major streaming services on October 1, 2021. A trippy R&B/Funk experiment, the track is the third release from the singer’s forthcoming debut solo album. Psychedelic keys and hypnotic background vocals ride a syncopated, Jazz-infused Hip-hop groove as the singer delivers her soulful meditation on finding the right partner for her sexy mood booster. Synths and strings build a cinematic feel that culminates in the bridge which launches the track into an extended orchestral arrangement featuring some wild vocal and bass improv.
