Sora’s in Danger is an emerging singer, songwriter and rapper from Queens, New York. The 20 year-old artist first started making music six years ago when he was just 14 years old. Sora made his professional solo recording debut in 2019 with the album “Love is a Drug.” Since then the prolific Trap artist has produced an impressive volume of work. In less than three years he has released 6 singles, 2 EPs and 5 full length albums.
Citing influences like Drake and Juice WRLD, Sora’s in Danger’s sound is a genre-bending mix of styles. We can hear his heroes’ influence in his mix of Pop hooks, Hip-hop beats and Emo angst. Alternative Rock guitars meet big retro synths and downtempo Trap beats as the singer exorcises his demons with smooth Pop choruses and melodic rap verses.
“The World Around Us IS Falling Apart” is the brand new album from Sora’s in Danger, released worldwide to all major streaming services on January 21, 2022. Through the course of 13 songs we follow the singer as he struggles to piece together his thoughts during and after a messy relationship. He wraps his tales of heartache and self-destructive behavior in Emo Trap grooves and cinematic instrumental arrangements.
This album really shows my demons to the world and I’m okay with that.
Sora’s in Danger
The record opens with the Alt Rock guitars and laid-back beat of “Alright.” Sora’s in Danger sets the mood and the theme with a hypnotic sound and a story of confused young love. He leans into an R&B/Pop slow jam vibe for “Toxic,” a beautiful song about an ugly breakup. Sora takes his first of many detours into the world of big 80’s synths on “Tokyo Drift,” a trippy track featuring some impressive chopping rhymes.
Throughout the album, Sora’s in Danger uses hypnotic, swirling background vocals and harmonies to paint a trippy and sometimes ethereal scene. The melancholy “Chrome Hearts (Hearts in Pieces)” is an excellent example with a dreamy mix of call and response backing vocals and New Age instrumental track.
On tracks like “Apart” and “Sunrise” Sora’s in Danger pairs sad piano ballads with melodic meditations on depression, drug abuse and heartbreak. Elsewhere he counters the sad vibes with upbeat electronic arrangements. From the catchy Synth-Pop riffs of “Slide” to the big Synthwave moods of “End of Our Song” and the tongue-in-cheek dedication “Thanks to You,” Sora weaves the sounds of the 80’s into his very modern Emo Trap groove.
