Rocket Sloth is the new music project born of the YouTube and Twitch gamer streaming channels of the same name. With nearly 250K subscribers, the Rocket Sloth team has been entertaining Halo fans for the past 4 years. Now the brand is branching out into music production.
What started as a hobby project has grown into something much bigger. Rocket Sloth’s Elijah simply wanted to create a bit of variety in the background music of his gamer videos. Before long the idea took on a life of its own and he found himself with an entire album on his hands.
“Future Payphones” is the debut album from Rocket Sloth, released worldwide to all major streaming services on January 15, 2022. The 12 song instrumental collection lives in the fabulously 80’s inspired Synthwave and Cyberpunk worlds of big hair, retro synths and neon lights.
The album’s current single and video is “Don’t Miss Me.” True to the “Future Payphones” stylistic theme, the track opens on a pulsing electronic bass and ambient synths. Soon the song’s simple melody meets a shuffling drum machine beat. As the track progresses it takes us on a cinematic ride through Jazz-infused Synthwave and Electro-Pop.
