Moromo is an emerging Contemporary R&B artist from St. Paul, Minnesota. He made his professional solo recording debut in 2018 with the single “Very Alive.” That track introduced a talented young singer who had been working as a touring musician since high school. Releasing nearly two dozen singles in a relatively short period of time, the prolific songwriter has further refined and defined his sound with each new release.
“Ceasefire” is the latest single from Moromo, released worldwide to all major streaming services on January 28, 2022. The song tells the story of rising above the restlessness and self destructive behavior of youth. The singer relays struggles with his demons, his God, and himself. In a poetic narrative he explains how love had helped him finally broker a ceasefire with them all. It is a soulful tale of both melancholy and hope.
A haunting piano lives at the heart of the mix. It accompanies the singer throughout the tune as he delivers his mournful soliloquy. Meanwhile an ensemble of bass, keys, drums and backing vocals alternately join and then retreat. It works to great dramatic effect.
