Gabrielle Ornate – Spirit Of The Times

gabrielle ornate

We first heard from Gabrielle Ornate in November of 2021 upon the release of her single “Rewrite the Rules.” That track introduced readers of The Static Dive to a multitalented, multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter, producer and self declared Bohemian queen. With a sound that combines modern experimental Alternative with Classic Rock and New Wave vibes, the UK artist is creating her own unique Indie Pop niche.

Gabrielle Ornate debuted in February of last year with the single  “The March of the Caterpillars.” Since then the prolific producer has delivered a total of 5 singles. Each subsequent track has further defined and refined her distinctive, cerebral Pop sound that matches edgy riff Rock grooves with ethereal vocals and a healthy dose of psychedelia.

“Spirit of The Times” is the latest single from Gabrielle Ornate, released worldwide to all major streaming services on February 4, 2022. The track opens on a 80’s Funk inspired guitar and drum riff that provides both the melodic hook and rhythmic foundation of the verse. As the track progresses the mix expands into a broad, cinematic production.

In the chorus the singer drops deep layers of vocal harmonies over a syncopated rhythmic groove and a massive mix of synths and guitar power chords. The track’s retro-future mix of synths, psychedelia and musical sophistication gives “Spirit of The Times” a timeless feel that brings to mind visionary artists like St. Vincent or the legendary Kate Bush.
