Lee Bailey is an emerging singer/songwriter from the United Kingdom. A native of South Yorkshire, he made his professional international solo recording debut in 2020 with the single “Dry.” That track introduced a talented songwriter with a sound that mixes Indie Folk stylings with modern Alt-Pop production. He sings deeply personal songs about life and love.
Since his debut, Lee Bailey has released a total of five singles. His latest is the heartbreaker “Closer to You,” released worldwide to all major streaming services on January 28, 2022. The wistful and lovelorn torch song is the singer’s first new music of 2022.
“Closer to You” opens with Lee Bailey alone with his signature acoustic guitar. Sparse piano notes paint the edges of the mix. In a sad and soulful Pop tenor, the singer delivers the melancholy tale of a struggling relationship. As the track progresses the ensemble expands to include bass, drums, keys and electric guitar. However, Lee and his guitar remain at center stage.
‘Closer to You’ is a song that’s been 8 years in the making. Written about my muse at the time and the turbulent beginning of a doomed relationship.
