OTKO is a new group making its international recording debut in 2022. The band got its start in 2020 when Erik Robertson (bass, guitar) approached his longtime friend Paul Nathaniel (vocals) about creating a fully-remote, collaborative recording project. Paul brought on his friend and colleague Brian Jones on lead guitar, and OTKO (on to know one) was born.
With a mix of analog and electronic instrumentation the trio creates a rich soundscape. Their music inspiration in Pop and Rock styles from decades past while staying firmly rooted in a modern Alt-Pop aesthetic. From the beginning, OTKO was intended to be a collaborative project in which the three core members are to work with other musicians from around the globe. They’re getting things started on their debut single.
“The Fall” is the brand new single from OTKO, released worldwide to all major streaming services on February 4, 2022. The downtempo Dark Pop track opens on a mix of ambient synths and ethereal electric guitars over a sparse, downtempo electronic beat. Nathaniel gives a soulful performance as guest singer JaCi Leigh’s ethereal backing vocals float on the periphery. As the track progresses the mix expands to include layers of guitars and percussive synth arpeggios, bringing the song to its cinematic conclusion.
