“Think of Her” is the latest single from Tyler Ransom, released worldwide to all major streaming services on February 4, 2022. The song rolls on a laid-back and lo-fi bedroom Pop groove. Guitars and keys weave a dreamy mix of jazzy Pop chords. Meanwhile Tyler sings a wistful tale of a long lost love. Later in the tune he takes the lead on saxophone to complete the Jazz vibe. The sound brings to mind the cool and sophisticated Alt-Pop Joe Jackson in the late 80’s.

Tyler Ransom

Where are you from?

I’m from Los Angeles, but I currently reside in NYC, attending The New School of Performing Arts. On a side note, getting used to the cold has been pure insanity.

How long have you been making music?

I’ve been making music for about 7 years. I picked up guitar at 13 and 2 years later started writing lyrics.

Who are the musicians involved in your project?

I have two tracks on this project that my good friend David produced for me. He is super talented and I met him in one of my music classes. It’s been a new and refreshing experience for me to work with another musician since I am so used to working solo. Having him share in the creative process has taken my music to another level and I hope it resonates with the listeners when they hear the songs he collaborated on.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

That always changes with me because I am always listening to music.  But when I first started finding my own voice I looked up to King Krule & John Mayer. Both artists inspired me to create and find my own way of expressing myself musically.

What is your greatest non-musical influence?

I normally don’t get asked this so it took me a solid minute to think of a proper answer. I would have to say my father. He describes himself as the farthest thing from a musician, because he is not really into music. What he is to me is one of the most if not the most driven person I know, and its made me grow up with the belief I can accomplish anything because I always have his support.

What inspired you to create this project?

Moving to a whole new area is always a crazy thing. Leaving for school in New York was a lot for me, especially because I was transferring from a university on the West coast, where I had just started to find my footing. I felt like I was starting over, and the songs on this project show me trying to adjust to that change and starting to feel more like myself.

What are your plans for the future (musically)?

For the future, I just want to continue making music I enjoy and being happy. Going to school for music and playing guitar all day is definitely tiring at some points, and I’m just learning that it’s ok to take breaks, it’s healthy to become more well rounded. I want to keep exploring new music and living life to the fullest.

Is there anything else you would like to say?

Big thanks to everyone who listens, follows, subscribes and supports me.
