Readers of The Static Dive first heard from Luanne Hunt last month upon the release of her single “The Butterfly Effect.” That track was an advance single from the singer’s new album “Portraits in Song,” released worldwide to all major streaming services on February 1, 2022.
In some ways the album is a creative departure for the artist. Over the years, Luanne Hunt has written and recorded hundreds of songs and released a remarkable 21 albums. Most of her music in the time has leaned more toward the Country side of her sound. However, the Philadelphia native is a lifelong fan of 60’s and 70’s inspired Folk & Rock. The new album embraces that side of her artistry.
You will catch me most days listening to everyone from America and Van Morrison to Crosby Stills and Nash, Bread and The Band.

“Midnight Rain & Roses” is the latest single from “Portraits in Song.” A mix of guitar, bass, drums and keys rides a mellow midtempo beat. Luanne Hunt enters the mix with a tragic love story of loss and forgiveness. The singer’s smooth vibrato, that percussive groove and some well placed Buckingham-style guitar licks give the track a great Fleetwood Mac vibe.
