Jade Boyd is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from St. Louis, Missouri. A lifelong musician, she made her professional solo recording debut in 2020 with the album “Love & Hate.” That record introduced a talented young artist with a soulful R&B style, a knack for catchy Pop hooks and a taste for laid-back Hip-hop grooves.
Since that debut, Jade Boyd has delivered a string of singles and enjoyed an underground hit with the deeply personal acoustic Pop/Jazz track “Perfect Day.” Still a teenager, Jade recently graduated from High School after having to live her senior year on COVID lockdown. The limited freedom of being a teenager and the isolation of quarantine inspired her latest song.
“No Boo” is the brand new single from Jade Boyd, released worldwide to all major streaming services on February 14, 2022. The track rides on a percussive and downtempo Trap beat. A deep synth bass rides the mellow and funky 808 groove as percussive arpeggios paint the edges of the mix.
The singer matches that mellow mood with a cool confidence. She alternates between a smooth R&B vocal and a rapid-fire melodic rap as she makes it clear that she is getting out, no matter what anyone says. The song’s “I don’t need no boo” melodic hook sticks in our heads long after the track fades.
