Mosley Around is the professional name of emerging independent singer/songwriter Sam Mosley. The guitarist, writer, poet and lyricist from Tuscarawas County, Ohio first dove into music at 14 when he traded his favorite hoodie for a guitar. The young musician went on to form a number of bands with his friends.
Sam has now teamed up with fellow OH musician, Claude Alsept. The group’s acoustic Indie sound is equally influenced by the Alternative Rock of artists like Modest Mouse and Pearl Jam and the Classic Rock of 60’s pioneers like The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many more.
“Naked” is the debut EP from Mosley Around, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 4, 2021. The five song collection features Sam alone at the mic, accompanied only by a pair of acoustic guitars.
The record opens on the stripped-down Weezer-inspired groove of “Absent.” Sam pairs the acoustic Power Pop tune with a series of Paul Westerberg-worthy lyrical observations on our hurried culture. “Happy Thoughts and Broken Smiles” follows as the singer serves up an Americana Blues stream-of-consciousness letter-to-self. The song introduces a taste of Grunge which continues throughout the record.
“Machines” is a soulful tune of heartache and bad choices. Mosley’s Alternative Folk/Rock vibe on the song brings to mind the bluesy Grunge of Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees). Mosley Around continues with the Dylan meets Seattle feel of “Not You,” a melancholy tale of love, heartache and disappointment. The record closes on “Time To Get Embarrassed,” an acoustic Indie Rock meditation on time and memory. The track’s extended Lo-fi piano/guitar instrumental coda features the only appearance on any instrument other than Sam and the guitars.
