Montiz is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer who made his professional solo recording debut in 2021 with the single “Fix it Again.” That record introduced a multifaceted artist with a soulful Pop style, a penchant for classic synths and knack for tasty guitar solos. Based in Antwerp, Belgium, his music is inspired by Pop/Rock legends like; Nik Kershaw, Dire Straits, John Mayer and others.
“Around the Corner” is the sophomore single from Montiz, released worldwide to all major streaming services on February 11, 2022. A Lo-fi Hip-hop breakbeat introduces the song. Soon the mix lands on a mellow Pop groove. Lush synths expand the horizon as a melodic bass adds a touch of Jazz. An electric guitar drops some nice Nile Rodgers-style Funk in the verse and an excellent bluesy solo in the bridge.
It’s a great sound that lands somewhere between Bryan Ferry’s Roxy Music and Paul Weller’s The Jam. As that smooth groove unfolds, the singer delivers a chilled out love song in a smooth Pop tenor. Lush backing harmonies add to the song’s dreamy vibe.
