Chi Rose is the professional name of emerging Pop/R&B vocalist Chadina “Chi” Maragh. Born and raised in New York, the singer recently relocated to sunny Southern California. She made her professional solo recording debut in 2021 with the single “See Ya.” That track introduced a talented new voice with a sound that mixes a modern Hip-hop attitude with a classic 90’s R&B soul.
In February Chi Rose followed up with her sophomore single, “Numb (Radio Edit”). Once again the singer delivers a soulful and sexy performance as she basks in the afterglow of a romantic evening. The track also introduces a nice descending melody in the chorus that makes for a memorable hook.
“Read the room” is the brand new 5-song collection from Chi Rose, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 11, 2022. The EP is a soulful and sexy ride through the nuances of a young artist’s many talents. The record opens with the classic slow jam vibes of “Focus.” A piano and bass play a mellow and jazzy tune over a breakbeat rhythm as Chi seductively instructs her lover.
“Forbidden” opens on a Lo-fi intro that eventually evolves into a downtempo Trap groove. Ambient synths and piano chords paint the periphery as Chi Rose executes an array of excellent vocal transitions and displays an impressive range. “Numb” is next, followed by the Pop/Trap bop “Up All Night.” It’s a great song with an infectious hook and a nice performance from Rose.
The record closes on “Infatuated,” another great slow jam that mixes new and old-school into a cool new groove. It’s a nice way to close. However, the EP is just the beginning for Chi Rose. Although she is just getting started, the young songwriter already has over 60 songs ready to go.
