David Arn is back with new music and an award-winning video. Regular readers of The Static Dive will remember the Virginia Beach singer/songwriter. He first appeared here in 2019 upon the release of his single and video “St. Paul’s Chimes.” That song introduced us to a skilled storyteller and composer. With an Americana vibe, a literary lean and a knack for working with talented collaborators, he has produced a string of successful albums and singles.
“Losing Track of Kimberly” is the latest single from David Arn, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 22, 2022. Once again the singer has teamed up with some impressive friends. Canadian independent stop-motion animator Jenna Provost has created an award-winning accompanying video for this touching tale of a runaway who regrets her decision.
The track opens on a mellow, lo-fi Alt-Folk mix. Over an ensemble of guitar, bass and minimalist drums, David Arn and guest vocalist Tyra Juliette (Demi Lovato, Keith Urban, Kid Rock) deliver a melancholy report of a young girl lost in an existential crisis. The film uses stop-motion animation to powerfully depict the song’s protagonist as she looks at the past and future repercussions of her choices.
Before the song was even released, Jenna’s video won Best Music Video at London Movie Awards, Official Selection of The New York Movie Awards, Silver Award at The Hollywood Gold Awards, Official Selection of Paris Movie Awards, The Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards,Dublin Film Festival (semi-finalist), Official Selection at the Toronto International Women Film Festival and the Richmond International Film and Music Festival.
Jenna had so many brilliant ideas of how to render the story through stop-motion I knew it would elevate the project to a new level.David Arn
