Jonathan Grow is a pianist and composer who made his professional solo recording debut in 2020 with the release of his original composition “Begin.” That track marked the beginning of a new phase for the musician as he transitioned into composing music for film and television productions. His new studio work comes after years of composing, teaching and performing Classical music in venues ranging from liturgical settings to arenas.
Originally from a small town in the Midwest, Jonathan Grow first fell in love with music as a child when he taught himself to play piano by learning the songs on the radio. He eventually pursued formal training. After college he moved to Nashville. In Music City he has worked as a staff writer, session vocalist, background vocalist, and pianist.
“Le Vol” is the latest single by Jonathan Grow, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 24, 2022. The track opens with the musician alone at his piano, performing a melancholy modern Classical/Adult Contemporary instrumental. The beautiful midtempo piece pairs a minor-key melody with a rolling arpeggio bassline for a somber yet fluid sound.
Just before the halfway mark Jonathan Grow is joined by strings. As the track progresses the ensemble builds to a full orchestra. The quiet piano instrumental transforms into an emotionally powerful cinematic piece. There is a hint of Eastern European influence to the melody, adding to the theatrical drama of the music.
