ESTEP is an emerging singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer making his professional solo recording debut in 2022. With a smooth multi-genre style, the DMV area musician refers to his sound as “Pop-Hop.” Both an accomplished musician and producer, he wields live organic instruments and classic analog synths to create a mellow and vibe. The songwriter pairs his downbeat vibe with lyrical portraits that paint complex emotional scenes with unexpected narrative turns and a fluid perspective.
“Only Fans” is the debut single from ESTEP, released worldwide to all major streaming services on January 28, 2022. Psychedelic tape effects and ambient synths set the dreamy scene for this laid-back slow jam.
Bass, keys and layers of vocal harmonies ride a funky downtempo Hip-hop beat as ESTEP delivers a clever twist on the song’s title. It’s a love song, a love song, he’s her only fan. Although it is not explicitly about the famous adult content sharing site, throughout the track the singer plays with context to make us question which version of the story is he telling.
