Andrea Magee is a Belfast girl living in Texas, but that distance hasn’t tamed her Irish heartbeat. Growing up in a musical family, the singer/songwriter got her start playing traditional Irish folk songs and originals in her family band. In 2016 she left Northern Ireland for the States to pursue a career in music. She and her collaborator Ben Jones formed the musical duo Beat Root Revival and toured with superstars like; Jeff Bridges, Brian Wilson, Jonathan Jackson, and Brian Setzer.
Now living in Austin, Andrea Magee’s musical career continues to thrive. Working as a solo artist as well as with the bands PAACK and Ulla, the singer has become a fixture in that city’s legendary music scene. In 2020 she made her professional solo recording debut with the album “Only Love,” featuring the hit “Floating Heart.” That record introduced a soulful and incredibly gifted singer with a sound that lives somewhere between the Folk traditions of her youth and the Country, Pop and Rock of her adopted home.

As the track opens, piano and guitar chords float in to set an ethereal scene. Andrea steps to the mic with an almost whispered tone. As the song progresses, minimal percussion and keys fade in and out of the mix as the singer offers images of a childhood spent in her war-torn but beloved home.
Throughout much of the 20th century Northern Ireland was a battlefield. The capital of Belfast was ground zero as the IRA, the UK and the Ulster government fought. Anyone alive during the 1980’s and 90’s remembers daily news reports of The Troubles. The people of Belfast now live in peace, but with memories.
