He Said is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Shannon Walden. The New York City native debuted the band in 2021 with the single “Waste Your Youth.” That track introduced a gleefully nostalgic Pop/Punk sound recalling the power chords, big choruses and curled lip attitude of groups like Blink 182 and Sum 41.
As a defiant and sarcastic response to man-splainers of the world, the band’s name is its own one-finger Punk Rock salute to the male-dominated music industry. Shannon explains that He Said’s dual two messages of nostalgia and girl power are by design.
I want to give my audience the comfort of nostalgia but the discomfort of a bold female and something they can bang their heads to along the way.

“Topanga” is the brand new single and video from He Said, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 29, 2022. Written in collaboration with our friend Violet Grae, the song is an upbeat and fun rocker, the track pairs the energy and attitude of early 2000’s Avril Lavigne with a very 2022 production. Huge guitars meet an up-tempo mix of live and electronic drums as Shannon steps to the mic with a fun and funny ‘Boy Meets World’ inspired breakup song.
The track’s video embraces the nineties/noughties vibe. The concept is a kid’s birthday party, with a twist in which roles are reversed. The adults are attending the party and the kids are hosting and providing entertainment. The clip is loaded with Pop Culture Easter Eggs.
