Samuel Mason is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist independent producer who made his solo professional recording debut in 2019 with the album Phases. That record introduced a talented Rock singer and songwriter who, with the help of drummer Austin Sheese, rocks the Midwest with a guitar-driven Indie vibe.
Although his records have experimented with a number of Pop and Rock genres from Metal to Beach Boys surf psychedelia, at the heart of Samuel Mason’s sound is a jangly guitar cranked to 11. With nods to bands like Television, Royal Blood and The White Stripes, Mason’s sound comes from a long tradition of cerebral proto-punk and post-punk Rock from across the decades.
“Black Masses” is the current single and title track from Samuel Mason’s sophomore full-length album, released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 30, 2021. A rocking Stooges-inspired guitar riff opens the track before the we land on slow Black Keys-style rock groove. Mason steps to the mic with a cryptic tale of love and betrayal. In the bridge the track kicks into a nice Black Sabbath-inspired groove that sits nicely with the song’s title and theme.
