Muhleak is an emerging independent Hip-hop artist who made his professional solo recording debut in 2018 with his debut album “The M Tape ” That track introduced a skilled emcee from the small city of Kitchener, Ontario telling lyrical tales of a life in the hustle. The Canadian rapper followed with a handful of singles.
He connected with Hip-hop fans around the world with hits like “Angels” and “Racks Up.” Muhleak had to step back from the scene for a while for personal reasons. Now he is back and ready to make an impact with a brand new record.
“In it To Win It” is the New sophomore full-length album from Muhleak, released worldwide to all major streaming services on May 6, 2022. The eleven track collection finds the rapper in top form. In his signature rhythmic lyrical style he drops stories of life in the hood.
From the hard drill Trap of “SOTP” to the real life family drama of the title track, Muhleak paints a musical and lyrical mural of his life. He and the crew party hard on club bangers like “Blue Strips” and then ride into battle on “No Breaks.” He gets deep and deadly serious on tracks like “One Day, Next Day,” a melancholy memorial for all of those friends and family he has lost.
Throughout the record Muhleak delivers his rhymes in a staccato rhythmic flow but with a mellow tone. It’s a great technique that gives his tracks an urgency without ever losing their cool. Musically the record flows with ease between hard Trap beats to old-school boombap grooves (‘Soul Food’). Minor-key guitars, strings and pianos set melancholy scenes for dark narratives (‘Cold’), social commentary (‘Night Eyes’) and a hopeful look to the future (‘Live Right’).
