Steely Spirit’s Impassioned Plea For Freedom

steely spirit

Steely Spirit is a virtual band featuring musicians from all over the world. They made their professional recording debut in November of last year upon the release of their single “Rockstar Madness.” That track introduced the songwriting duo of Mike & Josh, two musicians with a unique vision for their new project.

From his home in Vancouver, British Columbia, Mike pens the earliest versions of the group’s songs. Josh, who is based in Nashville, works out the more detailed melodic components of the track. From there the duo recruits supporting musicians as needed from the talent marketplace SoundBetter.com

Since their debut the group has produced a total of six singles. Their music is a multi-genre experience. From the Cobain-inspired power ballad “Rockstar Madness” to the soulful vibes of “Life Rewind,” Steely Spirit spans the spectrum of popular music.

“Free” is the latest single from Steely Spirit, released worldwide via major streaming services on May 16, 2022. A percussive electronic groove beats at the heart of the track. Deep, minor-key ambient synths create a dramatic Dark Pop mood. The singer steps to the mic and delivers an impassioned plea for some sanity in our chaotic modern world. In a soulful Peter Gabriel-inspired rasp he sings of freedom for all.

“Free” came to me in my sleep one night and I just had to get up and write it. It was about a month before Russia invaded Ukraine. It tells us that all humans deserve and should have the right to be free!
