Welsh Avenue is the professional name of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark DiLillo. Ever since the release of his critically acclaimed debut EP The Great Exchange, he and producer Joshua Rumer have worked together to create a catalog of smart, experimental electronic and Nu Wave Alt-Pop. Since that debut The Austin, Texas songwriter has released the follow-up six-song “New Ways” EP and four singles.
Recently Rumer moved out of state, prompting DiLillo to take a fresh look at his creative approach. A classically trained musician, Mark began writing songs on piano. He found a new connection to his music by removing the obstacles of technology. The result is a new, stripped-down and organic sound.
“Come Back Home” is the latest release from Welsh Avenue, available worldwide on all major streaming services. The track finds the singer alone at his piano. He delivers a passionate performance on this wistful torch song, accompanied only by a lo-fi drum beat, bass and subtle ambient synths. There is also nice extended piano solo at the end.
