The 30s’ Pop/Punk Resurrection

The 30s

The 30s is a pop/punk duo with an interesting origin story. They are Katerina and Panda, two young professionals who decided that the big 3-0 would not be a death sentence for their musical dreams. Rather than settle for a dream deferred, the musical pair decided they would have their cake and eat it too.

She is a Toronto-based math teacher and coach who has been singing ever since childhood. He is a public defender from Los Angeles who has been playing bass in bands since the 8th grade and spent his high school years rocking with bands on the Sunset Strip. The two met online and found they had similar biographies and musical tastes. And a and was born.

“Senseless” is the current single from The 30s debut album Aware, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 1, 2022. A quirky and upbeat Alt-Pop rocker, the song rides up a percussive bass and drum groove. Guitars and keys paint the edges of the mix with the song’s main hook. Katerina steps to the mic with a lovelorn narrative served with a healthy dose of attitude. If The Runaways and The Cure were to have collaborated on a song circa 1982, it may have sounded a bit like “Senseless.”
