PsychCloned returns with another wild musical adventure. Readers of The Static Dive are well acquainted with the talented young composer from North Carolina, also known as Gabriel Pureco. Over the past two years he has created a voluminous catalog of genre-bending instrumental music.
From his early classically-inspired electronic work on albums like Sakura to his more experimental recent forays into jazz and progressive rock, PsychCloned has a remarkable ability to compose and produce a broad stylistic range of music that is complex in its composition and flawless in its execution. Though much of his early work was solo, more often than not Gabriel works with a crew of talented musicians. Frequent collaborators Ry Jones (guitar) and Space Hobo (drums) have joined him once again on his latest offering.
“Canvas” is the brand new single from PsychCloned, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 17, 2022, exactly two years to the day from Pureco’s debut. The piece opens on a loose and mellow guitar intro before we hear the signature sound of a PsychCloned riff pick up the volume and kick the track into gear. Over the course of 6:29 seconds we follow the trio of virtuosos as they expertly navigate transitions through new-jazz, swing-jazz and video game rock. It’s a fun time.
