Dell

Dell is an emerging singer, songwriter and guitarist from Austin, Texas. Now 20 years-old, growing up he and his family split their time between the United States and Indonesia. In his travels he was exposed to a broad cross section of world cultures. At home, his parents made sure his musical library was stocked with the classics of all genres..

Influenced at a young age by the masters of both classical and modern music, he learned to play the guitar at just 7 years old. He listened to blues and rock legends like Eric Clapton, Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn for inspiration. In college he found jazz icons like Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell.

As he worked on his chops he began writing music as well. Although he was performing regularly, it was only recently that he took a more serious interest in songwriting. After three years of silence on his Soundcloud page, Dell returns in 2022 with a melancholy acoustic beauty.

“Emily” is the brand new single from Dell, available worldwide on June 17 via the artist’s Soundcloud page. A tragic minor chord melody introduces the song as Dell floats into the mix on a soft falsetto. The track then slides into melodically intricate and emotionally complex scenes from a young romance. The singer cites the music of John Mayer, Paul Simon and Jeff Buckley as specific influences on this song. We can hear Mayer in the impeccable guitar technique and Simon in the song’s poetic imagery. However, it is Buckley’s presence we feel the most in the Dell’s beautiful multi-octave performance.
