Mars Valencia is a singer, songwriter and producer who made his professional solo recording debut in 2019 with the EP Welcome to Mars. That six song collection introduced a talented emerging young artist from South London with a soulful and melancholy r&b vibe. The Static Dive readers first heard from the singer back in November upon the release of his hypnotic and sultry video, “Nomads.”
Since his debut Mars Valencia has released a string of successful singles. He has connected with tens of thousands of fans around the world with tracks like “Nomads” and “Heartless.” The singer has been featured in print and blog publications around the world. His music has received press and radio play in the UK, France and Brazil and more.
Forgive Me is the brand new EP from Mars Valencia, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 1, 2022. The six track set showcases the talented young artist’s smooth and soulful vocals as well as his deeply personal and introspective songwriting style. Citing the Weeknd as a primary influence, Mars creates emotional hip-hop-infused r&b and dark pop.
The Forgive Me EP is a concept record of sorts. We follow Mars Valencia on a heartbreaking journey through a doomed relationship. “Intermission” opens the record and sets the mood with minor-key ambient synths riding a slow trap groove. He maneuvers through the complex emotions and conflicting priorities of friends and lovers on tracks like “Nomads” and laments the reality of insurmountable odds on “Lost Cause.” Ultimately, when the relationship is over he seeks peace and reconciliation on “Praying for My Ex.”
