Seven Reefs is an international collaborative rock & roll project borne out of the pandemic. The band is the brainchild of French songwriter and guitarist Michel Monfort. He launched the project in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Craving a connection with other musicians during COVID lockdowns, he reached out across the internet, oceans and continents to start a band.
The group features Liel Bar-Z (Israel) on vocals, Melisa Dopazo (Argentina) on bass and Brandon Davis (United States) on drums. The ensemble came together virtually to record Michel’s songs. However, the project was also a much needed distraction from the chaos of our modern world for a bit.
Music is the only thing that we focused on. No career plans, no marketing stuff, just lyrics and music.

The Day Will Come is the debut album from Seven Reefs, released worldwide via all major streaming services on June 24, 2022. The nine song collection is a stylistic tour through the decades of guitar-driven rock & roll. Our guides are a quartet of seasoned professionals at the top of their game.
The record opens with its title track, a power chord-fueled view of life from the perspective of a person living on the autism spectrum. With a hard-hitting bass and drum punch, killer high-octane guitar riffs, and radio-ready production and deeply human lyrics delivered by world class pop/rock vocalist, the song sets the stage for what’s to come.
The record’s only cover song follows. “Something About You” is an English interpretation of the song ‘Ca c’est vraiment toi,’ from French classic rock legends Téléphone. Louis Bertignac, the lead guitarist of Téléphone, is a close friend of Monfort’s and plays on the Seven Reefs version of the tune.
From the melancholy relationship post mortem of “Loved for Real” to the wistful “Still Hear the Sound,” the band maneuvers through complex emotional terrain armed with expert chops and big rock & roll power. Throughout the record the band expertly executes multiple stylistic forays. They venture into 90’s alternative for the escape fantasy “Take Me Away” and they take on an 80’s rock vibe on tracks like the upbeat love song “You and I” and the dark trauma-survival ballad “After the Pain.”
