Letters to Anthony

Letters to Anthony is the professional name of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer, Gage Smocer Hilderbrand. Originally cutting his teeth in a number of teenage bands in his native Northern Virginia, Hilderbrand eventually moved to Pennsylvania. There the guitarist learned the ropes of his father’s recording studio and refined his skills on drums, piano, bass and vocals.

Heavily influenced by pop/punk bands like State Champs, The Story so Far and Neck Deep, he started the band Glory Days in high school. The group enjoyed regional success, toured around Pennsylvania and cut the EP Jura in 2018. In 2020 the musician moved to South Carolina, set up a studio and embarked on his new solo project, named for his late grandfather.

“Lifeline” is the debut single from Letter to Anthony, released worldwide to all major streaming services on July 6, 2022. Fat power chords ride a driving and percussive pop/punk beat as the singer steps to the mic with an angsty emo-fueled tale of the longing and uncertainty of life as it unfolds before him. Infectious vocal and guitar hooks paint the edges of the mix on this emotional rocker as Gage expertly handles all duties in front of and behind the board.

My original plan was to record demos and give them to my friends to record for their own bands but soon I realized I wanted to just release them under a new name
