Dolo Messiah is the professional name of fast emerging independent hip-hop artist Javian Martin. The rapper, songwriter and producer recently made his debut with a series of singles released to YouTube and other streaming services. Now 19 years-old, he first got his start rhyming and recording in this home studio in the projects of Carrollton, Alabama.
Citing the influence of artists like Juice WRLD and YoungBoy NBA, he creates deeply personal alternative hip-hop and emo trap. Recently Dolo relocated to Florida. There he his studying music production at Orlando’s prestigious Full Sail Recording school.
“Brain” is the debut single from Dolo Messiah, available worldwide via the artist’s YouTube channel. A jazzy and melodic indie-pop guitar introduces the track before the beat drops on a slow and low trap groove. Ambient synths and vocal samples expand the horizon as they ride the chill 808 beat. Javian steps to the mic with an introspective narrative about navigating his own thoughts. He slides smoothly between a catchy melodic rap and some impressive rapid-fire chopping.
