Middlebees’ New Modern Retro Vibe

middlebees

Middlebees is the brainchild of Atlanta-based singer, songwriter and guitarist Jon Manos. With influences from across the decades, the group creates an infectious sound that is both new and familiar.

Manos records with his collaborators and producers Jeremy Nichols (bass) and Ben Cato (drums) in their Space Jockey Sound in Woodstock, GA. The group debuted last year. Dropping singles at a rate of nearly one per month, the prolific team has quickly built a deep catalog of radio-ready tunes. To date, Middlebees have released six singles.

The band’s debut single “In The Wild” brings to mind the smart singer/songwriter rock of 70’s and 80’s icons like Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello and Warren Zevon. Guitars rattle and synths soar as the track builds to its epic Springsteen-esque ending. “Tonight’s the Night” followed with a ‘wall of sound’ that harkens back to the big AM radio ballads of late 60’s pop.

“She’s Nowhere” goes left of the dial for a chill indie-rock groove. It’s a nice mix of acoustic guitars, analog synths and Everly Brothers-style harmonies. On “Francoise Hideaway” Manos and crew marry their general alt-rock theme to some very cool and deep Johnny Cash vibes.

“Acworth Beach” kicks up the sand for a fun, upbeat jangly guitar summer jam with a sound that lands somewhere between Buddy Holly and REM. “Maybe I’m Dreaming” is the latest single from Middlebees, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 22, 2022. Jon delivers a wistful and emotionally powerful torch song over a dramatic chamber pop production.
