Kate Dulcich Debuts With The New ‘Wrong Me’

kate dulcich

Kate Dulcich is an emerging independent singer/songwriter who made her professional recording debut in 2021. Although music has always been a big part of her life, Kate never considered herself a performer or songwriter. Then 2020 happened. Like the rest of the world, the Brooklyn-based actor found herself with an excess of unwanted free time.

The lockdowns sparked Kate’s inner songwriter, and a new artistic journey was begun. Wrong Me is the debut 5-song EP from Kate Dulcich, available worldwide on all major streaming services. Kate’s sound is grounded in an alt-pop singer/songwriter vibe, similar to that of 90s stars like Lisa Loeb or Juliana Hatfield. However, throughout her debut Dulcich incorporates a wide assortment of styles and genres.

The title track opens the set. An ensemble of guitar, bass and drums sets the mood with a mid-tempo acoustic groove as Kate delivers a dreamy heartbreaker. “Don’t Go Away” follows with a look at some dark days in a relationship. However, there is always a strain of hope on Dulcich’s songs. That balance of light and dark beats at the heart of the melancholy ballad “What is Real Love?”

On “Thinking About Leaving” Kate Dulcich skillfully guides the song from its folky beginnings through big rock verses and ultimately to an arena-ready anthem in the vein of U2 or Coldplay. “Crimes of the Heart and Mind” closes the record with an infectiously catchy and universally relatable Celtic country ‘Mea culpa’ waltz. It’s a great closing-time, beer-spilling sing-along.
