Drifting Shadows are a brand new independent rock band with a mission. The group is making their professional recording debut in 2022 with the stated purpose of connecting with others. They saw people suffering throughout our troubled world and decided to use their music to help.
“Loner” is the debut single from Drifting Shadows, released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 8, 2022. A modern indie rock song with a strong 90’s alternative lean, the track is a personal view into the title character’s private thoughts. The first-person narrative is infinitely relatable as the singer explains that he’s not friends with the cool kids or, “the weirdos either.”
Musically the track mixes elements of hip-hop, pop and grunge over a downtempo alternative rock groove. Power chords and analog synths meet both acoustic and electronic drums to create a cool indie rock vibe. It’s a great sound with fun surprises like a smoky jazz piano break and some old-school record scratching.
