Balkun Brothers are back with their first new music of 2022. Regular readers of The Static Dive know the band well. Over the last three years we have closely followed the psychedelic rock ensemble’s every move. Led by brothers Steve (baritone guitar) and Nick (drums) Balkun, the band has traveled the world with their unique blend of blues soul, metal power and acid rock exploration.
Since their debut a decade ago, the New England sibling rockers have been creating an impressive volume of high-octane virtuosic rock & roll. Their sound pairs Nick’s Zeppelin-worthy thunder with Steve’s electrifying mix of Texas blues and space hues. With each new release they have traveled the world, building a reputation as an act not to miss.
“Dennis Chambers” is the brand new single and video from Balkun Brothers, released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 26, 2022. On the track the brothers are joined by percussionist Neal Evans and saxophonist Tommy Weeks. Like the legendary session drummer for whom the song is named, the track hits hard and is funky as hell.
The release is paired with a fun live-performance video recorded at the band’s home studio, with the entire family on the set. Steve’s low guitar pairs a George Clinton groove with some wailing Hendrix blues and a bit of Claypool-meets-Zappa vocal. Tommy doubles the bass for a taste of Morphine while Nick and Neal deliver a heavy syncopated funk.
