July’s Dreamy Slow Jam ‘Pokey Lights’

July is an emerging independent r&b singer/songwriter who made his professional solo recording debut in 2017 with the single “Mood”. That track introduced a soulful singer with a laid-back vibe and a taste for downtempo hip-hop grooves. The track was a hit and spawned a series of remixes.

A string of hit singles followed. July has connected with hundreds of thousands of fans around the world with successful tracks like 2019’s “Catalina” and 2020’s “Flatline.” Born and raised in London, the UK singer cites a wide range of singers, songwriters and producers as inspiration. Artists like Lionel Richie, P. Diddy, Phil Collins and Tyrese Gibson have all influenced his sound.

“Pokey Lights” is the brand new single from July, released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 12, 2022. Ambient synths and bells introduce the track before the beat drops on a slow and low trap groove. The singer steps to the mic with a dreamy slow jam. He drops esoteric love poetry in ethereal tones. It’s a great performance featuring some impressive jazz phrasing.
