Invisiblespider’s New Genre-defying Nihilism

invisiblespider

Invisiblespider is the professional name of genre-fluid singer/songwriter Jian Wei. The 24 year-old Singapore musician is an award-winning school choir bass singer and street busker. In 2022 they are making their professional solo recording debut.

Citing the inspiration of experimental electronic and alternative artists like Daft Punk, Nine Inch Nails and Nick Cave, invisiblespider creates cerebral ‘genreless’ music. Their debut single/video is a nihilistic meditation on modern existence.

“Circles’ ‘ is the brand new single from invisiblespider, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 22, 2022. Ambient analog synths introduce the track before the vocalist steps to the mic. Using cryptic and visual poetry they give a history of life’s futility from the biblical story of Genesis to the cacophony of our modern technology driven world.

A mix of electronic and organic instrumentation lays down a hypnotic groove. Through the verses Jian Wei delivers their testimony in a spoken-word poem. The song turns to a memorable and melodic chorus before ultimately transitioning to the track’s central mantra.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Round and round and round.
