Elliye is an emerging independent hip-hop artist who made her professional solo recording debut in 2019 with the funky jazz-hop “My Routine”. That track introduced a skilled emcee and singer with an eclectic sound and a unique backstory. Born in South Korea and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, she mixes rap, pop and r&b into a cool alt/hip-hop groove.
Since her debut, the prolific recording artist has released a steady string of singles and EPs. She has connected with hip-hop fans around the world thanks to hits like last year’s “Wear It” and the 4-track EP I Am My Trophy. Her sound is a fresh mix of multiple different hip-hop styles from old-school to lo-fi and trap.
“Money” is the brand new single from Elliye, released worldwide via all major streaming services on September 3, 2022. A minor-key alt-rock guitar opens the track, riding a slow and low trap groove. Deep bass tones rumble the floor as Elliye steps to the mic. She riffs on the theme of the song title, alternating between a cool syncopated rhythmic monotone and a soulful melodic rap.
