Moon And Aries Break The Matrix

Moon and Aries are an international songwriting and production duo who debuted earlier this year with the 9-track album The Arrival. With that record we were introduced to Canadian singer/songwriter Jordana Moon and multi-instrumentalist German producer/composer Tom Aries. Each had worked as solo artists previously. However, upon collaborating they soon realized they had even more to offer as a team.

The prolific duo have already released a follow-up single and two EPs since that debut. Readers of The Static Dive have followed Moon and Aries from the beginning. Their sound is a cool downtempo mix of trip-hop grooves and dark synthwave moods.

“Break the Matrix (Episode One)” is the brand new 3-song EP from Moon and Aries, released worldwide via all major streaming services on September 8, 2022. The record opens on the slow and cinematic sounds of “Closer And Closer.” Percussive synth arpeggios introduce the track with a Thomas Dolby vibe. Soon the beat drops on a chilled downbeat groove and Jordana steps to the mic with a dramatic tale told in soulful tones and esoteric poetry.

“The In Between” follows with ethereal dark-pop/trip-hop meditation. Aries paints a lush soundscape as Moon delivers her hypnotic harmonies. It’s a beautiful and haunting love song. The record closes with Tom taking his turn at the mic for a Depeche Mode-inspired “Losing Control”. The track opens quietly at first. As the song progresses the canvas expands from to include broad orchestral strokes.
