Daiyan is an emerging independent artist who made his professional solo recording debut in 2020 with the single “In The Range”. That track introduced a skilled emcee and talented singer/songwriter with a genre-fluid style. He blends elements of hip-hop, pop, r&b and trap into his own distinct sound.
Born in Manhattan and raised in Queens, Daiyan is an American-Bengali artist who only recently decided to pursue a career in the arts after a lifelong love of music. He was raised on MTV, Bollywood and Michael Jackson. Now citing everyone from Eminem to Slipknot as influences he creates dreamy and soulful downtempo hip-hop. Since his debut the rapper has released seven singles and now a brand new six-track collection.
“Worthy” is the debut EP from Daiyan, released worldwide via all major streaming services on September 8, 2022. Stylistically diverse, ethereal and soulful, the record is an excellent introduction to the Daiyan sound. He pairs hip-hop beats with r&b moods and EDM production techniques.
The set opens with the lo-fi guitar and cinematic vibes of “Rage”. Dayain drops a hypnotic freestyle over a hard breakbeat rhythm and dark electronica riff-rock. “Dance With Me” follows with a dreamy after-hours club jam.
“Libra” takes it from the dancefloor to the bedroom with an astrological slow jam. A classic r&b/pop melody paints the edges of the mix as Daiyan drops mellow melodic bars. “How You Feel” continues that vibe and adds a bit of Caribbean flare to the beat.
The rapper takes a hard turn to the old-school with the fun 90’s boom bap and stream-of-consciousness freestyle of “Imperfectionist Interlude”. Daiyan closes the record with the sexy trap meditation “What a Body”. Spanish guitar meets eastern melodies as ambient synths expand across the horizon. It’s a trippy, ethereal and multicultural sound.
