John Lion is an emerging independent singer/songwriter who made his professional solo recording debut in 2021 with the single “I Don’t Believe in Magic”. That track introduced a talented indie-folk/alt-pop artist from the United Kingdom with a sound inspired by iconic songwriters like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. but with a decidedly modern twist.
The unplanned downtime of the pandemic led to those initial recording sessions. John Lion actually got his start a few years earlier, working the clubs and coffee shops of London’s underground scene. Since his debut the prolific singer has steadily built a strong catalog of music, including four singles released to date and an EP on the way.
“Tea Lady” is a recent single from John Lion, available worldwide via all major streaming services. A soft spoken torch song, the tune tells the true tale of an unfortunate crush that tests the narrator’s character. Accompanied only but his finger-picked and capoed Nashville-strung guitar, Lion sings of his burgeoning love for the unattainable romantic partner of his best friend.
