Sommaiya Angrish is an emerging independent filmmaker, composer and multi-instrumentalist producer who made his professional solo recording debut in 2020 with the single “Goals”. That track introduced a talented young songwriter with an eclectic, genre-fluid sound. A native of India, the 18 year-old musician now lives and studies in Tallahassee, studying at the Florida State University.
Since his debut the prolific producer has released a dozen singles as well as his 2021 debut album, Expressions/Impressions. A self-described ‘genre-less musician’, Sommaiya Angrish blends the organic and digital into a wildly creative vibe. Currently at work on his sophomore album ‘Sheeshmehel’, he just dropped the record’s debut single.
“Tanha” is the brand new single from Sommaiya Angrish, released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 7, 2022. Ambient synths introduce the track before the singer steps to the mic and muses philosophically. Soon the beat drops on a glitch groove with psychedelic vibes that incorporates elements of pop, hyperpop, r&b and hip-hop. An electric guitar plays traditional Indian melodies as Sommaiya, B-Leaf and JD Lee trade bilingual verses.
